This past weekend in Toronto Ontario, the Bravado Jiu-jitsu academy (bravadojj.com) hosted its annual grappling tournament. This year the tournament introduced the belt rank divisions as opposed to experience levels which are used in most Canadian grappling events. The tournament was a great success, with approx. 280 competitors from Local cities such as:Hamilton, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Barrie, Mississauga, Port Colborne, Kitchener, and as far as Montreal,Que. Indiana, Ohio, NY, St.Louis, and Edmonton, Alberta.

The GI tournament went throughout the day and in the evening the events promoter put on a Inviation only pro event called the Canadian Submission Expo. This event featured matches with some of Canadas top grapplers and the finals of the open weight blue and purple belt divisions.

Onhand to catch some of the action were veteran grapplers/coaches Mark Bocek, Claude Patrick, Jeff Joslin, Richard Nancoo as well as Fabio Holanda and Prof. Sylvio Behring. Prof Behring gave a speech to the crowd and spoke about the developments of BJJ and Grappling throughout Brazil and now in Canada.
