El Monte, Ca – Riding on a high from their last event less then two months ago California Extreme Fighting returned Thursday night to the El Monte Sports Expo. Bringing an array of local and international talent into the cage that night the promotion continued to show why its one of the southern California best shows for showcasing new talent.

In the main event underdog Jeremy Umphries (1-0) would use his superior takedown and grappling ability to score a win over WEC veteran Josh Smith (6-4). For three rounds Umphries would be relentless with his attack taking down and controlling Smith at will. Aside from a few scrambles and strikes landed while on the feet Smith would have nothing for the newcomer and would lose the fight via unanimous decision.

That Night team Hayastan would have another impressive showing as their fighter Sarkis “Sako” Chivitchyan (2-0) would need less then one round to finish his opponent TFA veteran Frank Baldivai (0-1). At the sound of the bell Chivitchyan would waste no time and take Baldivai down and from the top position look for the submission. Baldivai would put up a valiant effort against the better grappler but as he would scramble to his knees Chivitchyan would sink in a rear naked choke that would force him to tap.

In bantamweight action Keiichi Matsumoto would up his record to 3-0 as he would finish newcomer Orlando Aspericurta. Coming out quick both fighters would land some hard punches early but it would be Aspericurta would shoot and take the fight to the ground. Once on his back though Matsumoto would showcase his ground skills and scramble to his feet and use a failed takedown attempt by Aspericurta to set up a guillotine choke that would end the fight with just a little over a minute left into round one.

Newcomer and StarSpar sponsored fighter Johnny Espinoza would make an impressive debut that night as he would destroy Unbreakable fighter Noe Rodriguez (0-1). Less then one round is all Espinosa needed to score the takedown and land some vicious punches before passing Rodriguez’s guard and securing a keylock submission that would make Rodriguez tap.

In other action newcomer Jared Lara would use sprawling tactics and Muay Thai skills to score a TKO victory over InvincibleFC veteran Tony Dalton (1-2).
In a battle of new comers Andy Dermenjyan from Team Hayastan would use a rear naked choke to defeat Team Diamond fighter Andrew Patlen.
Also on the card RITC veteran Conner Bell (1-1) would use his Juijitsu skills to submit KOTC veteran Daniel Mancha (1-3) via armbar that night.

In a tough bout for the judges to call CSW trained fighter Devin Howard (3-1) would battle with Team Diamond fighter Joshua Aveles (1-1) to a majority draw.

Finally on the card Brian Devanay would pick up the second win of his career as he would defeat Romanian based fighter and newcomer Valeriu Mihai via split decision
