08.19.09 Call to Arms 2: Called Out Author: Christopher Landeros
Saturday night would be a night full of excitement at the Citizens Arena in Ontario California as veteran Thomas Denny would capture his fist win in over two years. Denny would come in focused that night submitting Rage in the Cage Welterweight champion Joe Cronin via choke in the second round.

Throughout the fight Denny (26-18) would score takedown after takedown but as he would attempt to secure the top position Cronin’s (13-10) scramble ability would always get him back to his feet. Denny seeing this would use it to set Cronin up and in round two as Cronin scrambled to his knees Denny would lock up the guillotine that would force Cronin to tap.

In the co main event UFC veteran Gabe Ruediger would continue to climb back up that mountain by defeating Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist Wander Braga.

Early in the fight both would seem to be tentative with their attacks using only movement and a few punches to try and set up some kind of attack. As the fight wore on though Braga (10-0) would become more aggressive and move forward with strikes and a double leg shot. Ruediger (14-5) seeing this would sprawl and use the position to sink in a deep guillotine choke that would make Braga tap, handing him his first lost of his career.

In welterweight action Team Hayastan fighter Roman Mitichyan (5-3) would out point HB Ultimate’s Mike Dolce (6-6) with forward movement and strikes in route to a unanimous decision.

Brawling back and forth for the entire three rounds with kicks and punches Virgil Zwicker (6-0) would score a unanimous decision victory over fellow heavyweight Will Richey (4-0).

In light heavyweight action Raphael Davis (6-1) would defeat team Bodyshop fighter Emanuel Newton (11-4-1) using the takedown and positional control before submitting him via a short choke in round two.

In brutal fashion Team Rampage fighter Jay Silva (4-0) would up his record to 5-0 stopping Team Millennia fighter Ray Lizama (7-5) with hard rights and lefts that would force the ref to stop the fight.

Making a successful debut that night 5 time kickboxing champion Kathy Long would score a unanimous decision victory using her striking skills and defensive ground skills over Avery Vilche (1-1-1).

Using a strong wrestling base Daniel Puder (6-0) would score a unanimous decision victory over body shop heavyweight fighter Mychal Clark (6-8).

In middleweight action Brent Cooper (4-1) fighting out of team Oyama would need less then one round to finish new comer Daniel Hernandez via strikes from the top position.

In true Team Hayastan fashion Andy Demenjyan (2-0) would overwhelm his opponent Team Wildman fighter Andy Rhodes (3-3) using strikes from within the back mount position.

Finally on the card CSW trained fighter Francisco Rivera (3-0) would use counter punching and leg kicks to score a majority decision over Pinnacle Jiu-jitsu trained fighter Aaron Arana (2-0).
