05.20.09 Call to Arms Report Author: Christopher Landeros
Ontario, Ca – This past Saturday the Janitor Vladimir Matyushenko would grapple his way to a unanimous decision victory over fellow UFC veteran Jason Lambert at Clean Kills first ever Call to Arms event held at the Citizen’s Business Bank Arena.

For three rounds Matyushenko (21-4) would use his wrestling skills to counter any offense Lambert (23-9) had to offer. Anytime Lambert would attempt to gain the upper hand on the feet or on the floor the Belarusian would just counter with a takedown or escape and stay active from the top position. This game plan would sway the judges who would award him the victory that night.

In the co main event Tiki Ghosn would score a unanimous decision victory over fellow journeymen Brian “Unbreakable” Warren.

From the start Ghosn (11-7) would prove to be the better all around fighter as he would land the crisper strikes, score the takedowns and dominate from the top position. Warren (11-13-1) though would not go down without a fight and fire back when ever possible with strikes and submission attempts but in the end he would be outworked and drop a 27-30 decision.

In an unfortunate accident Jeff ford would be injured and drop a TKO loss to AKA stand out Daniel Puder that night.

The injury would occur less then two minutes into the bout as Ford (4-3) would attempt a high round kick he would slip and land hard on his shoulder and immediately grimace in pain. Puder (7-0) would see this and rush in with punches before being pulled off by the referee Marcos Rosales.

Hayastan stand out Karen Darabedyan would come in guns blazing that night and capture a victory CCC lightweight champion Joe Camacho.

In one round of action Darabedyan (6-1) would explode with punches from all angles that would put a tough Camacho (11-14-1) on the defensive for the entire round. Everytime there would be an exchange of punches Darabedyan would always be on the winning end and as the bell would sound signaling the close of round one Camacho would have a cut that would force the doctor to call the fight.

In middleweight action Tapout show veteran Mat Major would grind out a unanimous decision over ShoXC veteran Jamie Fletcher.

Playing the counter puncher Major (4-1) would land punches and knees throughout the fight as Fletcher (8-4) would always push forward. In the end however it would be Major’s striking ability that would sway the judges giving him the win.

In welterweight action Affliction veteran Brett Cooper would stop Lion’s Den AZ fighter Joe Cronin.
As the bell would sound Cronin (12-10) would rush Cooper (8-4) immediately in hopes to overwhelm the Team Bodyshop fighter. However what Cronin would find is that Cooper would go punch for punch with him and in just over a minute into the fight Cooper would land the harder shots that would force the ref to call the fight.

In devastating fashion Team Rampage fighter Jay Silva would KO his opponent Team Millennia fighter Reggie Orr.

Even though it would not come easy for Silva (4-0) as Orr (8-5-1) would battle back and forth with him for most of the fight Silva would find an opening late in the second round and explode with a flying knee that would end the fight.

In other action Toby Grear (6-4-1) would capture a win over ASU team fighter Mike Sandez (6-5) using a stick and move game plan that would out work Sandez in route to a unanimous decision victory.

In featherweight action Team Millennia Karahhanyan Georgi (11-1-1) would out point Team Bodyshop fighter Albert Rios (11-3) using takedowns, top position and ground and pound.

In what looked like at times like a submission wrestling match FistSeries veteran Chad George (9-4) would eek out a split decision victory using the top position and submission attempts over Strikeforce veteran Alvin Cacdac (5-4).

That night Team Hayastan’s Sevak Magakian (6-2) would continue to impress as he would finish his opponent UCE veteran Harold Lucambio (4-4) via knee bar in less then one round.

Finally on the card UMMA fighter Francisco Rivera (2-0) would score a unanimous decision victory over Unified Shoot Wrestling federation veteran Johnny Gomez (2-1).
