Mainland vs. Hawaii


Jeff "The Snowman" Monson (ATT) vs. Abraham "Kumu" Cambra (Grappling Unlimited)


Jeff is a black belt under Ricardo Liborio. He is a 2x ADCC champion, former Pac-10 wrestling champion, former UFC #1 contender, and has won many MMA and grappling matches all over the world. He trains with the American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida and operates his own affiliate school in his hometown of Olympia, Washington. Kumu is a black belt under Egan Inoue. He is one of Hawaii's most respected heavyweight grapplers, having competed successfully in both MMA and submission grappling shows throughout the islands. He is the head instructor at Egan Inoue's school Grappling Unlimited, where he trains in Honolulu, Hawaii.



Rafael Lovato Jr. (Saulo Ribeiro) vs. Niko Vitale (808 Fight Factory)

Rafael is a black belt under Carlos Machado. He has earned the status among many people in the sport as America's most accomplished jiu-jitsu player, after hitting a grand slam last year by winning black belt divisions at the European, Brazilian National, Pan-American, and World championship. He trains with Saulo and Xande Ribeiro in San Diego, California and operates his own school in his hometown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Niko has become one of Hawaii's most decorated MMA fighters, after having a standout football career at the University of Hawaii. He won the X-1 tournament in January and has wins over elite grappling based fighters, such as Todd Medina, Matt Lindland and Yushin Okami. He is a veteran of the UFC, Strikeforce, X-1, IFL, Super Brawl, and Icon Sport. Niko teaches and trains out of 808 Fight Factory in Waipahu, Hawaii.



Jeff Glover (Paragon) vs. Rylan Lizares (Icon Sport)

Jeff is a black belt under Ricardo "Franjinha" Miller. He became one of the youngest Americans to achieve this rank and has taught and trained out of Paragon in Santa Barbara, California and Cobra Kai in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is one of the most popular American jiu-jitu players in the country due to his skill level and entertaining style. Rylan is a brown belt under Pedro Sauer. He is one of Hawaii's brightest up and comers having won many titles, while displaying a very dynamic game. Last summer, he had a strong 3rd place finish in the Mundials middleweight brown belt division, only behind Kron Gracie (division champ) and Otavio Souza (absolute champ). He currently teaches and trains out of Icon Sports Martial Arts in Honolulu, Hawaii.



Simpson Go (Cobra Kai) vs. Luke Hacker (Longman)

Simpson is the first person to receive a black belt under American jiu-jitsu pioneer Marc Laimon. He has won multiple jiu-jitsu and submission grappling titles all over the country and is the defending 2006 ADCC North American Trials winner. He currently teaches and trains out of Cobra Kai in Las Vegas, Nevada. Luke Hacker is a brown belt under Bruno Ewald. In 2004, he earned the award of "Outstanding Competitor" at the Maui Open. In 2006, he placed 3rd in the Pan-Ams featherweight purple belt division, on the same day that Simpson finished second in the super-featherweight purple belt division. Luke also won the NAGA-Hawaii championship. He trains with the Longman Jiu-Jitsu team on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.



Mike Fowler (LIMAA) vs. Sidney Silva (Brazilian Freestyle)

Mike is a black belt under Lloyd Irvin. He achieved this rank faster than most people ever to train in the sport. He has won jiu-jitsu and submission grappling matches all over the world, which includes wins over Renzo Gracie and Saulo Ribeiro at the 2007 ADCC World Championship. He is the head instructor at Team Purebred/Lloyd Irvin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, where he trains on the island of Guam. Sidney Silva is a black belt under Romolo Barros. He is a veteran of Rumble on the Rock, Shooto Hawaii, Icon Sport, and WEC. He has also won numerous jiu-jitsu and submission grappling matches. He trains with the Brazilian Freestyle team located on the University of Hawaii campus in the heart of Honolulu, Hawaii.



Snowboarder vs. Longboarder


Scott Bieri (Cobra Kai) vs. Joel Tudor (BJJ Revolution)

Scott is a former pro snowboarder turned jiu-jitsu black belt under Marc Laimon. He has won numerous jiu-jitsu and submission grappling titles all over the country, including U.S. Grappling's pro 8-man invitational tournament last year. He teaches and trains with MMA, jiu-jitsu, and submission grappling stars alike at both Cobra Kai and Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joel is a world famous longboard surfer turned jiu-jitsu brown belt under Rodrigo Medeiros. Tudor's success and admiration was a major factor in the longboard revival of the 1990's. He eventually gained the same success and enthusiasm for jiu-jitsu where he won the Pan-Ams in 2006. He trains with the BJJ Revolution team in San Diego, California.



Women's Gi Day vs. Women's No-Gi Day


Cindy "Sleeper" Hales (Gracie Barra Seattle) vs. Gabriela "Gabi" Bermudez (Gracie Humaita)

Cindy is a black belt under Marcio "Mamazinho" Laudier and Rodrigo Lopes. She is one of the most decorated American women in the sport having competed in last year's ADCC, as well as across the globe in MMA competition. She teaches and trains out of Gracie Barra Seattle in Seattle, Washington. Gabriela is black belt under Fabio Santos. She was a finalist at the Mundials last summer and recently had another strong showing at this year's Mundials as well. She is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and trains with the Gracie Humaita team in San Diego, California.
