do you feel about the fight?
I am feeling great today, as I got the result I wanted. I was training for some new things for this fight, particularly knees, and I managed to use them successfully this time.
How do you feel about your opponent?
Nagata was a very strong opponent, and was good with his positioning. I managed to keep the positions I wanted, and worked him into the position that enabled be to use those knees.
Do you have a message for your fans?
I would like to tell the fans that I feel we are getting a little closer. I have recently started training in New York, so if anyone feels like jumping on a plane and coming over, you are welcome to watch me train.
Katsuhiko Nagata
How do you feel about the fight?
Vitor’s ground was incredibly strong. I was hoping to the change the rhythm of the fight in the second round, but was hit with the knees, and was beaten. I am very sad.
How would you describe your opponent? He cut you..
On the ground, he didn’t submit me, and I think I did alright defensively, but I was hit with those knees that are legal in the fight. I am not really hurt, though I got a couple of stitches. More than pain, I just felt disappointed that I let them through. I think I have about five or six stitches from the cut.
Would you like a rematch?
I don’t really feel like I need to hunt for revenge, I just wish we could have thrown a little more before it went to the ground. I just really don’t like the fact that the fight ended by a doctor-stop.
Where do you go from here?
I want to train hard enough so that I can actually beat those fighters that people look at as being at the top. I don’t say that so I feel like I am getting revenge, but just so that I can overcome this feeling of disappointment.
Riki Fukuda
How do you feel about the fight?
For now, all I can say is I am glad I won. I knew my stamina wouldn’t be enough, so I tried to end it early. Ninja is a very strong fighter though, so it didn’t go as planned. If I had of had enough time to prepare, I would have been able to go harder. My tension was high to fight in DREAM. The crowd is energetic and the event is great.
Who would you like to fight next?
I am happy to fight anyone that the fans would like to see me match-up against.
Murio Ninja
How do you feel about the fight?
I want to go back and do that fight again. Next time in DREAM I want to do a lot better. I really didn’t have the stamina that I needed for the fight.
Any comments on your opponent?
Fukuda is a very strong fight. He did a great job, particularly on such short notice. He got good position on me, and was really very strong. I really hope to come back to DREAM and fight again.
Jeff Monson
How do you feel about the fight?
I am happy that the fight ended quickly as I know Sergey is a tough fighter with good conditioning. I wanted to end it quickly and am glad I managed to do so.
It didn't last very long…
I was a little surprised that I caught him like that so early. Normally that sort of hold is something that would take awhile to get. I have been training with Roy Nelson at American Top Team and there are many great ground fighters there. We were training that move just last night so it was very fresh in my mind. Of course when the opening was there, I took it.
How did you feel fighting in Japan?
I want to thank DREAM for the chance to fight here. I have had some legal issues in the U.S. due to my stance against the Iraq war, so I really appreciate the chance to fight here.
Where do you go from here?
My goal in DREAM is to fight the best. Ultimately, I want to fight Fedor. if DREAM could set that up it would be great.
Sergey Kharitonov
How do you feel about the fight?
A loss is a loss. If there is a winner, there has to be a loser as well. That was me tonight, and I have to accept that fact. I recently suffered from influenza rather badly, and was actually preparing for a stand up fight against Mark Hunt until just a week ago. Ground was not in my mind at all, which the result reflected.
Where do you go from here?
I will continue to train and fight. Everyone loses, and as you know, I came back from losses in PRIDE too.
DJ. Taiki
How did you feel about the fight?
Tokoro was very strong, with lots of stamina. He is the sort of guy you cannot afford to give any chances to as he will capitalize on them. He was as strong as I expect.
What was your plan for the fight?
Just to fight as usual and not to get too nervous. The ring was not slippery, and I thought it was a good place to fight. I didn’t
