Sitting here at the HP San jose Arena waiting for the first fights to begin. I'll be blogging with a live play by play of all the matches so stay tuned!
Prelim fights:
Alex Trevino vs Isaiah Hill 155 pounds (3 x 5 minute rounds)
Your referee for the bout is Josh Rosenthal
After some stand up Isaiah takes Alex down, but after a brief amount of ground and pound Alex reverses. Alex tries a guillotine, but Isaiah reverses and takes Alex's back with about half the round to go. Alex turns but Isaiah to full mount. Alex throws his legs up and as he escapes to a leglock. Nothing there but Alex comes up and passes to side control, traps an arm in between hs legs and rolls forward for the shoulder lock and tap.

James Terry vs Zac Bucia 170 pounds (3 x 5 minute rounds)
Your referee for this bout is "Big" John McCarthy
After a brief feeling out process on the feet, James Terry lands a monster high kick which fells Zac and then pounces on him for some largely academic headshots before McCarthy ends the bout.

David "Tarzan" Douglas vs Justin "the Silverback" Wilcox 155 pounds (3 x 5 minute rounds)

Round 1
A big right hand from Douglas buckles Wilcox, who recovers and eventually scores a takedown. Douglas gets back to his feet but is quickly taken down by Wilcox again. Wilcox to side control and eventually takes the mount. After a minute Douglas finally escapes but Wilcox maintains side control as time expires.

Round 2:
Douglas tries to flurry but Wilcox scores an immediate takedown to Douglas's guard. A quick pass and then to mount for Wilcox. THe match remains in the mount for sometime. Stifling ground and pound that is far less exciting than it might sound. With the thirty seconds to go Douglas does manage to get to the guard, but it has been a one side match thus far.

Round 3
After some flashes of standup Wilcox takes the bout to the ground as the crowd boos in displeasure. Wilcox gains the mount and continues to ground and pound. Douglas is turning to avoid shots, Wilcox can't do much with the back however. Douglas is a bloody mess now. Wilcox finally sinks in the rear naked choke and ends this match.

Scott Lighty vs Mike Cook 205 pounds (3 x 5 minute rounds)
Your referee is Big John McCarthy
After some feeling out a big punch from Lighty drops Cook, and Lighty pounces, but Cook recovers. More standup, and a big punch to the midsection drops Cook again, Lightly lands a follow up to the head as Cook shakes it, but McCarthy stop the match.
Winner Scott Lighty 2:05 by TKO
Intermission, I guess they moved Kyle vs Werdum to the main card. Don Frye walked in and is standing about six feet to my left and is quickly mobbed, more so than I've seen any of the other fighters walking around tonight.
Jay Hieron vs Jesse Taylor 170 pounds (3 x 5 minute rounds)
Your referee is Herb Dean
Extreme Couture vs Team Quest. That still is a little bizarre to hear.
Taylor fights for the takedown but Hieron sprawls and eventually Taylor is forced to his back. Not much action from the ground as Heiron pushes the bout to the fence. From there he moves to the half guard as Taylor tries to get back to his feet unsuccessfully. 30 seconds to go and Herb Dean brings them back to their feet when the round ends.

Round 2
Taylor tries for a takedown, Hieron sprawls, looks for a guillotine, then sweeps to the mount. Taylor tries to spin out but Hieron takes the back and looks for the choke! Taylor esacpes, to the side and Hieron tries a head an arm choke but Taylor escapes and back to the guard. They are against the fence now. A little shuffling Herb Dean stand the fighters. Taylor looks for a shot but Hieron counters with a knee and once again Taylor finds himself on his back. After less than a minute Herb Dean stands the fighters up again. A final shot from Taylor and the round ends with Hieron sprawled out.

Round 3
The first minute actually stays on the feet and Hieron looks very relaxed right now. Two minutes in and Taylor finally scores a takedown and puts Hieron into his guard. Taylor moves to half guard but Hieron gets back to the feet. Taylor lands a nice knee but after the momentum was going his way he winds up on his back in the middle of the cage. Hieron laying on op of Taylor's closed guard, not really advancing or striking, so Herb Dean stands them up again with less than a minute to go. Circling around without much happening and time expires to a chorus of boos from the crowd. The first fight to go to the scorecards tonight.
