On Friday, August 28, 2009, TUFF-N-UFF Amateur Fighting Championships hosted the second half of their Back-To-Back shows. The first half was held six days earlier, which featured Ryan Couture vs. Jimmy Spicuzza as the main event. This event would feature five bouts as part of a USA vs. Canada team challenge, as well as nine other bouts including a female fight and the venue would again be a packed Mardi Gras Ballroom inside the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Team Canada ended up sweeping Team USA 5-0 in the team match-up. The first fight of the evening featured a very competitive match to start things off. George Abdallah (Canada) ended up earning a Unanimous Decision victory over Roman Isbell (USA).
The second bout of the team challenge saw Derek Freeman (Canada) defeat the local fighter Kawika Lagasca (USA) with a very close Split Decision. This decision was booed pretty hard and loudly by the crowd, as many felt it should have gone the other way.
The third bout in the team competition was the fastest as Bryan Fedynyszyn (Canada) came back against Marcus Dalton (USA), who had stormed out of the gate quickly. After appearing to be the more explosive and aggressive fighter, Fedynyszyn quickly used technique to turn the tables and momentum in his favor, as he finished Dalton off with some strong ground-and-pound at 1:40 of the first round.
The fourth bout in the team challenge was the lone female fight of the evening and one of the more brutal and costly. Moa Plama (USA) fought competitively against the taller Bobbi-Jo Dalziel (Canada) in the first round, scoring with takedowns, but Dalziel would win in the second round via TKO after she broke the arms of Palma, as she tried to check a powerful Muay Thai kick from Dalziel with her forearms.
The fifth and final fight of the team competition was one of the most competitive fights of the night. After James Kytosaho (USA) punished Forrest Cable (Canada) for most of the first round and threatened with a Rear Naked Choke until he was saved by the bell and the round came to a close. The second round saw Kytosaho against attack with the trademark Wand Fight Team aggressiveness, but his aggression cost him dearly when cable came back to catch Kytosaho in a deep Triangle Choke. Kytosaho never tapped and he went to sleep, giving Team Canada the 5-0 team victory.
In other action, Edmund Xhelili of Striking Unilimited KO'd Josh Brown of Hawaiian Fighting Arts with a haymaker from hell, which only took a mere 28 seconds. However, the "KO of the Night" came in a bout between Junior Gomez and Chris Mailo. Mailo, who fights out of J-Sect, spent most of the first round trying to showboat a la Roy Jones Jr. His antics continued into the second stanza and as he dropped his hands to bob n' weave some more, Gomez hit him with a big right hand that sent Mailo crashing to the canvas.
