I had an awesome experience at this year's World Championship. My first match was against Michael Langhi of Alliance, multiple time world champ and number 2 in the world at lightweight, and even though I lost I came away feeling really good about it because it was a really close match coming down to only a single advantage point! This last friday our mats at Claudio Franca BJJ in Santa Cruz were blessed with a bunch of high level black belt competitors all training hard together and helping each other get ready for the worlds!
We had six black belts training, myself, Raul Castillo, Adam Picolotti, Samir Chantre, Augusto Queixinho Moizinho, and Ramiro Camacho along with a bunch of other tough competitors!

This last weekend I had the privelege of competing in the 2013 IBJJF Las Vegas Spring International Open and after two hard fights I came away with the bronze medal! My first fight was against the baseball bat choker Magid Hage of Gracie Barra who I defeated with a guard pass (video coming soon) and my second fight was against the reigning middleweight world champion Otavio Sousa, also of Gracie Barra, who after six minutes of hard fighting with the score standing 0-0 was able to catch me in an armbar from the closed guard (video above).

This last weekend Tanner Rice and I faced off once again at the 6th American Cup in San Jose and it was another exciting match! We were in a bracket of three, the other competitor being close friend of mine and training partner Marcus Antelante.
