The Brazilian National Championships or Brasileiros as they are often referred to, are by far the most difficult to win. The event is organized by Carlos Gracie Jr. and the CBJJ and spans a month long period with Blue through Black belt competitions. What makes this event tougher than the Mundials is it is an open event you do not have to qualify so there can be an unlimited number of matches 6, 8 even 10 matches to win is not unheard of in this event. It is the most respected event to win by among the Brazilian Competitors. Not as well known in the States as the Mundial, but that is just for now. Come down and fight guys it is a great event.

This year the star of the whole event was Terere from Alliance Jiu Jitsu. He won both is division Middle Weight and the Absolute Division. Pe de Pano also won his division and these to gold medal winners ended up meeting in the finals of the Absolute. Terere was able to beat Pe de Pano by two points in the final. Pe de Pano was very upset because he felt his last second sweep was good before time ran out. Other notables that won are Jefferson Moura from Gracie Barra, Paulo Lepiodo from Ryan Gracie, and Roberto Tozi from Godoi/Macaco. Marcio Feitosa has a very close fight that ended very controversially against Rodrigo Antonio from Nova União. In the last minute Rodrigo got a 2 point take down against Feitosa while he was talking to the referee. It was a huge controversy but the win in the end went to Rodrigo.
