Large attention was made to the Seniors division, in which the legendary Fabio Gurgel stepped onto the mat to win both his division and the absolute. With his long time coach Jacare inhis corner, Gurgel went on to submit all of his opponents in five matches with absolutely textbook jiu jitsu. The National Teams Championship saw four teams participating in the brown/black challenge. In the semi final Team Brazil overwhelmed a game Team Sweden.
