On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena will host some of the world’s best judo players competing in the 2007 GB Judo World Cup for Men.


The event will be a highlight of the International judo calendar as one of twelve Grand Prix style European events. It will attract some of the highest-level competitors from throughout the world hoping to gain qualification for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.


Each year the GB World Cup alternates between men and women. In 2006 Birmingham hosted the GB World Cup for women, which saw a 28 strong British squad facing the best from countries including Cuba, China, Russia, Germany, USA, Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.This year some of the Brits competing will include current World and European Champion, and local sportsman, Craig Fallon, European medallists, Winston Gordon, Euan Burton and Peter Cousins, and former US Open Champion, Bobby Rich.
