On Sunday December 5th, the third installment of OTM reporter BALEIA's Canadian event, the Ontario Submission Wrestling Invitational, went down in historic fashion.
On Sunday December 5th, the third installment of OTM reporter BALEIA's Canadian event, the Ontario Submission Wrestling Invitational, went down in historic fashion. The event consisted of a card featuring superfights and an 8-Man Absolute division festuring some of Canada's top grapplers. BTT Canada was the dominant team in the event with all of its fighters coming out victorious. It was George St. Pierre (now of BTT CANADA) of UFC who won the Grand Prix and looked sharper than ever with alot of new tricks that he's seemed to have been practicing under the guidance of BTT black belt Fabio Holanda. Georges defeated Judoka Mike Nomikos opening round with a straight armlock, than MMA Vet Kyle Sandford (Renzo Gracie) before taking home the gold by finishing AJ Scales(Nova Uniao) with his new favourite move, the Kimura! In the Superfights, Ze Mario Esfiha(NiagaraBJJ/Traven) battled with Rodrigo Munduruca(MundurucaBJJ) for the bragging rights of the biggest brazillian black belts who now lie in Canada. The match started out with some quick action but unfortunately 30 seconds into the match, Rodrigo hurt his knee and had to withdraw! Mike Hong(MARCUS SOARES) battled with Wade Shanley(BTT CANADA) in an super fast and exciting match, with the two constantly scoring on eachother before Wade was able to end the match with a beautiful armlock from the guard. The last superfight had Montreal jiu-jitsu phenom David Aguzzi (BTT CANADA) defeating Bryan Edge (ALLIANCE CANADA) with his favourite move the triangle. Aguzzi has won several Grapplers Quest and NAGA events as well and seems to have an already winnning game and very slick guard game! Expect to hear more from this teen from Montreal!
