OTM Sponsored Athletes Capture Titles

On The Mat has knack for sponsoring some of the best and most technical athletes on the planet. None of that is more evident than three of their athletes cleaning up at the Grapplers Quest that took place during the UFCs fan expo. Garry Tonon, Sean Roberts and Jeff Glover all walked away with medals and awards to add to their growing or already large collections. Grapplers Quest had one of their largest field of competitors yet with over 800 people in the tournament and Roberts, Glover, and Tonon were able to come out ahead.

Roberts took three medals in the tournament. He was able to capture gold in his weight class for Gi and No-Gi. The best division title he won though was the absolute open weight for black belt males. That is a division per Grapplers Quest that is full of killers. This is a big accomplishment for Roberts who is a new black belt to the game, but he is a killer always looking for the finish and never trying to ride a match out on points. He was unable to capture the win in 16 man ultimate tournament for No-Gi, but another OTM sponsored fighter took home the win.

None other than Garry Tonon was able to capture the win in the 16 man tournament. This win is less than a month removed from his win at the Eddie Bravo Invitational. In his first match, he took the match by guillotine on the left side. The next match was like he was fighting in a mirror, because he took the match by another guillotine but this time it was on the right side. In the semi-finals, he was able to capture the win by rear naked choke, and he went on to meet Nathan Orchard in the finals of Sunday which he also won. This was a hard tournament with two ten minute rounds and an additional six where points were used if needed, but Tonon did not need any of that in his journey to another tourney win.

Jeff Glover’s performance at this event was nothing short of spectacular as he took out his competition in amazing fashion. no one really stood a chance as he finished all seven of his matches with submission which is a reason why many people believe he is one of the best submission artist in the world. This performance lead Grapplers Quest to  award him the most technical fighter award which is hard to give to anyone else with Glover in your tournament.

All of these fighters competed in gear custom made by OTM with Glover wearing a green lantern motif rash guard by On The Mat, Tonon wearing an American Flag rash guard made by OTM, and Roberts competing in multiple different pairs of gear in his three gold medal winning competition performances. So to compete like the best you have to wear what the best where, and this competition is evident that the best wear nothing but OTM.
