Product Review: Padilla and Sons Gis

About six months ago we sent every gi manufacture a letter, asking to let On the Mat review their gis for our readers.About six months ago we sent every gi manufacture a letter, asking to let On the Mat review their gis for our readers. Only two responded and only Joe Padilla sent us gis. In talking to Joe about his gis and Jiu-Jitsu you can tell he wants to be offer the best products he can. At around $70 for a single his prices are great too.

I remembered seeing Joe’ s gis at a tournament in LA last year. They didn’t particular excite me at the time. However, now that I’ve been training in a Padilla gis for a few months, I am very impressed. They are really well made and very conformable to train in everyday. Joe has really taken measures to slow the wear and tear caused by hard core training. These are well constructed gis. The seams are tightly sewn together and they are all heavily reinforced. The collar is thick and strong. The back has stitching similar to the Howard Combat Kimonos setsugi stitching. The inside is the best part of these kimonos it has a very smooth finish and the fabric sewn in for support is also smooth. Very comfortable gi.

The only complaint I had was the cut was a little loose. Joe’s let us know all his new gis have a new more snug cut we can’t wait to get a look at the new gis.
