The Ultimate Fighter 9 - United States vs. United Kingdom concludes on Saturday, June 20, 2009 with The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale live from the Pearl at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. TUF 9 featured 16 welterweight and 16 lightweight fighters, who had to fight their way into the house with Day 1 eliminations. The 16 fighters who earned a spot in the house were then split up between coaches Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping. Henderson's team consisted of 8 American fighters, while Bisping's team consisted of 8 British fighters. Henderson and Bisping will face each other in a middleweight bout at UFC 100 on July 11, 2009 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event of the TUF 9 Finale will be a bout between two men vying for a title shot in the lightweight division, as Diego Sanchez who is a champion from the first season of TUF squares off with Clay Guida, who has just knocked off two former TUF champions in his last two fights. This should be an easy contender for "Fight of the Night" as both Sanchez and Guida are known for non-stop action and high-octane performances. The welterweight finale of TUF 9 will feature the lone American finalist DaMarques Johnson who will be looking to break into the UFC after fighting as a journeyman in smaller shows the past 4 years. He will face James Wilks who is British by birth, but lives in the United States, which is where he has fought his entire career. Johnson defeated Ray Elbe, Dean Amasinger, and Nick Osipczak to reach the finale, while Wilks scored an upset submission win over Che Mills before defeating Frank Lester twice to reach the finale. In the lightweight finale of TUF 9, the bragging rights went to Team U.K. after two British fighters earned a trip to the finale. The bout will feature Andre Winner, the man who has one of the most desired names in all of competitive sports. He will look to test his athletic precision-striking and namesake against his fellow countryman Ross Pearson, who is known for his methodical "Rock'em Sock'em Robots" style of fighting. No matter who wins this bout, one thing is certain. Michael Bisping will no longer stand alone as the only British fighter to win a season of TUF. The main card also features a pair of fights in the welterweight and lightweight divisions, that should give the two winners of TUF 9 an adequate display of what lies ahead for them, once they win the TUF contract in their respective divisions. In welterweight action, the seasoned UFC veteran and TUF 4 finalist Chris Lytle, will be make his 15th trip to the Octagon to take on a fellow midwesterner in Kevin Burns, who will be making his 4th appearance in the UFC after debuting last June with a Triangle Choke victory over black belt Roan Carneiro followed by two memorable fights with Anthony Johnson. The final main card bout, which is guaranteed to be televised on Spike will feature winners from TUF 2 and TUF 5, as Joe Stevenson takes on Nate Diaz. Stevenson lost his last two fights to Sanchez and Kenny Florian (two finalists from TUF 1) and will be looking for a big win against Diaz, who is coming off of his first loss inside the Octagon to Guida in January. The main card of the TUF 9 Finale will be televised on Spike at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST.
