    Tue, 2013-07-16 19:59 — Benjamin Bieker

Everyone that trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has the want to compete in it whether they express it or not. A lot of people that want to compete freak themselves out more than anything else can, but what you have to remember is that everyone else is just as freaked out as you, at least at the lower levels. While you can do as much training, conditioning, and outside training as you want to prepare there are some things that will help you compete even if you do not think about them. So, take a look at three things you need to work on and consider before hopping on the mat to compete.

    BJJ Survey Results

    Wed, 2013-07-10 10:46 — Benjamin Bieker

Recently, Brian Riggsbee, a San Francisco native, did a survey of nearly 700 people about the sport of BJJ. These were people of all shapes, sizes, ages, belt levels, and nearly all of them are actively training. He asked them questions about what inspired them to join the sport, about the injuries they have faced, how much pain they have, what supplemental training they do, and among other things if they had ever been choked unconscious. As weird as it sounds even 29% percent admitted to it, but it makes you wonder how many didn't cop to it.
