    Bellator 101 Debuts Lightweight Tournament

    Thu, 2013-09-26 20:32 — Benjamin Bieker

Bellator kicks off its 101st MMA event tomorrow, and it is lined with a lot of great lightweight prospects and veterans. Also, in the main event another bantamweight tournament semifinal takes place when Joe Warren and Nick Kirk. It seems like a weird thing considering that Warren was knocked out in practice no more than a month ago. Plus with two knockout losses in his last four fights it may seem that Warren's chin is gone, but even though this is the main event it is not the most intriguing fight on the card.

Gracie Breakdown: Brendan Schaub's UFC 165 D'arce Submission

    Mon, 2013-09-23 10:03 — Benjamin Bieker

Sorry, you need to install flash to see this content.

Many people believed that Brendan Schaub was in for another knockout loss coming into UFC 165, but unfortunately a complete MMA game is different than just decent striking. Despite having an awful performance at Metamoris 2, Schaub was finally able to display the grappling skills many said he had but had never shown. All it took was one round for Schaub to win, because once the fight hit the ground he was able to lock up his D'arce choke. Despite Mitrione giving the thumbs up, he eventually fell asleep in the submission.

    UFC Veterans on Chopping Block

    Thu, 2013-09-19 21:25 — Benjamin Bieker

In the world of sports you are only as good as your last fight, match or game, and working for a company like the UFC when you lose a few fights you could be out of a job. The part about that it does not matter if you have been with the company for two fights or twenty, because when you lose about three fights in a row your name starts to be brought up for pink slips. That is the spot that Chris Leben and Frank Mir find themselves in after many years in the UFC. They are lined up for new fights, and with a loss they could be looking for new employment.

UFC on Fox Killer Card Rumors

    Tue, 2013-09-17 21:35 — Benjamin Bieker

The UFC has continued to contest titles on their Fox cards, and UFC on Fox 9 will be no different. This will be the third time in five cards that the Lightweight title will be contested on free TV as well. The problem is that it will not be TJ Grant fighting for the title like most people assumed. Instead, former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson sill be fighting in the main event against newly minted Anthony Pettis. Thomson may only be 1-1 in his last two fights, but his scintillating knockout of Nate Diaz and Grant's injury moved him into the main event.
