On Saturday, November 14, 2009, the UFC returns to the United Kingdom with UFC 105 - Couture vs. Vera. The event will take place at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England. The venue, which is also commonly referred to as just The M.E.N. is one of the world's busiest indoor arenas. It also hosted UFC 70 - Nations Collide in April 2007, which was the second time the UFC hosted an event in the United Kingdom, since hosting UFC 38 in London, England in July 2002.

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, Strikeforce will make its first foray into the Land of Lincoln with Strikeforce - Fedor vs. Rogers. The event will take place at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The event will be co-promoted by Strikeforce and M-1 Global and will air on a prime time slot on CBS in the United States. It will be televised in the United Kingdom at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday on Bravo. On Friday, November 6, 2009, Strikeforce will make a trip about 3 hours southeast from its base in San Jose down the freeway to the city of Fresno, where it will host the fourth installment of ShoMMA - Strikeforce Challengers. The event will take place at the Save Mart Center at Fresno State in Fresno, California. This will be the first time Strikeforce has hosted a show in Fresno, which is located in the center of the wide San Joaquin Valley of Central California.

The Ultimate Fighter 9 - United States vs. United Kingdom concludes on Saturday, June 20, 2009 with The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale live from the Pearl at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. TUF 9 featured 16 welterweight and 16 lightweight fighters, who had to fight their way into the house with Day 1 eliminations. The 16 fighters who earned a spot in the house were then split up between coaches Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping. Henderson's team consisted of 8 American fighters, while Bisping's team consisted of 8 British fighters.

On Friday, June 19, 2009, Strikeforce will host its second ShoMMA - Strikeforce Challengers event at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. ShoMMA is a MMA series produced by Strikeforce and the Showtime cable network. Similar to Showtime's earlier ShoXC, the purpose of the series is to highlight up-and-coming MMA fighters. The event, which will be located in the outskirts of Seattle was sanctioned by the Washington State Athletic Commission. Unlike other athletic commisions, the WSAC did not permit one-pound allowances during the weigh-ins.
