Never Tap 2 - No Gi Event, Phuket, Thailand, March 27, 2010

Many people know me for my ‘have gi/rash guard/shorts will compete’ attitude over the years and this has seen me compete all over the UK, Europe and Scandinavia and more recently stepping up to do battle in the Middle East in 2008 and now in the Far East at the Never Tap 2 No Gi event in Phuket, Thailand.

Jittis Gym, Bangkok – the Fighting Photographer drops in for a taste of authentic Thai training.

Way, way back in the early days of my martial arts training, when I had just started in Karate, I read an article in a martial arts magazine, about a guy who travelled to Bangkok and trained at Jittis Gym.  After reading the article, I wrote a letter to Jittis Gym, asking about the training and was very surprised to receive a reply and an open invitation from Jitti to train at the gym.

Once again, another month flies by in the blink of an eye and I'm back to attend side control part 2, courtesy of brown belt Darren Currie.

Carlson Gracie Revolution Team member Simon Hayes was awarded his black belt from Wilson Jr at the London based club the other night, in front of over thirty team mates. Simon is one of the UK's most respected and inspiring jiu jitsu players, a warrior on the mat and a gentleman off them. All the UK's jiu jitsu community wish Simon all the very best on such a massive achievement and I now have even more material to add to what is shaping out to be the biggest interview I've ever undertaken with Simon, so watch this space!
