LT. General Al Ka'abi said the Armed Forces Officers Club would modernise it's state-of-the-art facilities as the UAE prepares for other sports events, including the Fifa Confederations Cup in 2009.

Highlighting the details of the club's development programme, Al Ka'abi said it would include facilities for marine sports like wharfs for parking speedboats, water cycles.

GMA member Carlao Santos is selecting five female Jiu-Jitsu coaches to work in the UAE. Candidates need to hold at least a brown belt rank, have an intermediary knowledge of English and experience in teaching.

Open Sports Festival kicks off tomorrow

Abu Dhabi: This year's Ramadan Open Sports Festival organised by the Armed Forces Officers Club (AFOC) starts on Tuesday with a total prize fund of Dh14 million on offer.

The annual event, which is being held for the 12th successive year, starts tomorrow on the second day of Ramadan and will extend over 24 days.

This past Thursday we had a special guest at EMAC, Prof. Carlos Santos. Taking time from his vacation, he stopped by to watch class and answer a few questions with BJJ-ASIA. Having already interviewed Prof. Santos earlier this year, we took a few moments to catch up with what he's been working on.

Abu Dhabi, May 20th, 2008 (WAM): HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces received on Monday the emirates champions of the Abu Dhabi International Cup for Jiu-Jitsu.

The tournament in the Brazilian martial arts was participated by teams from 36 countries and more then 150 players.
