The Brazilian JiuJitsu World Championships, also known as the “Mundials,” is the world’s largest stage for competitive jiujitsu. This past weekend, competitors, coaches and fans took to the now iconic blue Pyramid at California State Long Beach for the four daylong tournament.

     “I’ve fought 122 times in my life—and I have no marks on my face, see it’s still pretty— no one can shoot me down!” he shouts. These were the emphatic words of Master Relson Gracie as he began his seminar last weekend in San Francisco with tales of his early street fighting days in Rio de Janeiro.

No-Gi Worlds Black Belt finals Update from Los Angeles!

 We’re in San Francisco, California, where Carlos Sapao’s academy sits just feet from Ocean Beach, a sprawling shore along the Great Highway 1, flocking with seagulls and of course, local surfers and tourists. Even though it’s foggy and raining, it still gives you a little taste of the Barra da Tijuca , Brazil vibe—sand, surf and jiujitsu. This is exactly Sapao’s intent—to bring Barra to the Bay.
 

On Sunday, one of JiuJitsu’s most recognizable female BJJ champions and women's instructor's, 5x World Champion Leticia Ribeiro, came to the San Francisco Bay Area to hold a Women’s-Only Seminar at the Eduardo Rocha academy in Oakland, CA.

10th Annual Gracie Open held at Kezar Pavilion San Francisco, CA

Cesar Gracie held his 10th annual, Gracie Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament in San Francisco this Saturday. The event included gi and no-gi divisions for kids and adults, absolute divisions, as well as a Super Fight between “Nasty Nate” Nate DuCharme (Dave Terrell) and Brazilian native/BJJ World’s Champion, Antonio Braga Neto (Gordo JiuJitsu).
