ANTALYA, TURKEY - The United States had a dominant performance at the historic first World Grappling Championships, sweeping all nine gold medals in the final event of the World Wrestling Games in Antalya, Turkey, September 9.

USA Wrestling will be sending three teams of athletes to compete at the World Wrestling Games in Antalya, Turkey, September 7-9.

Included will be athletes in the international wrestling styles of Sombo, Beach Wrestling and Grappling.

Anderson, Townsend named coaches for historic first U.S. Grappling World Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – USA Wrestling, the national governing body for amateur wrestling, has named Bob Anderson of Redondo Beach, Calif. and Jason Townsend of Las Vegas, Nev. as coaches for the U.S. Grappling World Team, which will compete in Antalya, Turkey on Sept. 9.

Matt Lindland and Team Quest to host a Grappling World Team Trials Qualifier in Olympia, Wash., May 19

2000 Olympic Greco-Roman silver medalist Matt Lindland, one of the world’s most popular mixed martial arts athletes, along with his successful Team Quest club, will host a USA Wrestling sanctioned qualifying event for the U.S. Grappling World Team Trials.

The Team Quest Northwest World Team Grappling Qualifying Trials will be held at Olympia High School in Olympia, Wash., Saturday, May 19.

LAS VEGAS - The 2007 U.S. Sombo World Teams for both men and women were determined at the U.S. Sombo Nationals and World Team Trials, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Saturday, April 7.

Winners in each weight class were crowned national champions, and qualified to compete at the World Sombo Championships in Antalya, Turkey, Sept. 7-9.

USA Wrestling Grappling World Team Trials to be held in Las Vegas, Nev., June 8-10

USA Wrestling has announced that it will host its first U.S. Grappling World Team Trials at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., June 8-10. Competition will feature Senior-level men and women.
