    Sign-ups for the 2012 European Open, only just opened today, so now’s the time for you to show what you’re made of and get in there. To help out anyone who hasn’t made up their mind yet, put together a list of 10 good reasons for you to be a part of the first Grand Slam event of the season, coming up late this January.

    The tears he cried after his lightning-quick knockout of Cain Velasquez summed up Junior Cigano’s feelings. In just a few years, Cigano went from serving tables to delivering knockouts as the number one heavyweight in the world.

    “I have no words to express what I’m feeling. It’s incredible! I want to thank my team, my family. I have a lot of great people around me,” said Cigano while still in the octagon, before making a surprising announcement.

    Lucas Leite comments on No-Gi Worlds win at heavyweight.

    CheckMat BJJ’s Lucas Leite has a lot of fans. At the 2011 No-Gi Worlds they could be heard cheering for him all around the Pyramid. When asked about their presence on Saturday, Lucas just shrugs his shoulders and says, “I teach at two different locations.” They must be two very large locations.

    Long time friend of OTM Buiú closes out Absolute at No-Gi Brazilian Nationals!

    This Saturday at Canto do Rio Club in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro state, the No-Gi Brazilian Nationals unfolded. Among the standouts of the competition, Gracie Barra duo Kleber Buiú and Frederico Zaganelli won their respective weight divisions and closed out the absolute.

    In action at medium heavyweight, Buiú took on Roberto Gordo black belt Victor Bonfim. Victor started out well, but Buiú adjusted a foot attack and pulled off the finish. It’s the second year in a row that Buiú wins the event.

    De La Riva vs. Jean Jacques postponed till 2012

    Originally set for November, the Jiu-Jitsu Grand Slam has now been put back till next year. The main attraction, the supermatch between Ricardo De La Riva and Jean Jacques Machado, had to be postponed because of some red tape. The event will still be held at the Maracanãzinho gymnasium, though.

    This Saturday, October 30, is the last day to sign up for the No-Gi Worlds, to take place November 7 in Long Beach, California's classic Walter Pyramid.

    A constellation of stars is already confirmed for the event, but you, whether an adult or juvenile or hold a white, blue, purple, brown, or black belt, can get in the running for a title, too. All you need is to have your technique and heart up to speed and sign up to participate in the event, here.

    World Jiu-Jitsu champion Roger Gracie will no longer fight Don Frye at his MMA premiere. His new adversary at Bodog Fight, on December 2nd, will be UFC veteran Ron Waterman (13w, 4l, 2d).
