    5th American Internation Quick Report

    the 5th American Internation tournament put out by the Wold Grappling Games was a success yesterday as an estimated 250-300 competitors came out for one of the last big events for 2005. The venue was near perfect place to hold a grappling tournament as competitors were downstairs, spectators were upstairs in the balcony, and kids divisions ran all day long upstairs.

    3rd California Open Quick Report

    Three hundred competitors took the mat for both the gi competition on Saturday and the no-gi on Sunday.

    The highlight of the gi division were the professional black belt divisions in which light and heavy contestants battled for a $1500 prize. In the lightweight division Cassio Werneck armlocked Solomon Mitchell to take home top honors. In the heavyweight division Sergio Lorenzo defeats Vinicius Magalhaes in a very close match by the score of 2-0.

    The second day was highlighted by an 8-man professional no gi division for $1500. The brackets and results broke down as follows:

    Grappler's Quest West Very Quick Results

    An absolutely insane amount of competitors participated in the 8th Grappler's Quest West. With way over 1000 competitors signed up for the nogi section alone, and many more entered in the gi divisision, nearly 1700 competitiors in all participated on 12 mat in what may have been the largest grappling tournament of all time. Certain divisions, notably the Novice under 170, had over 100 competitors alone!
