    My Post Fight Review

    Tue, 2008-04-08 09:25 — Kenny Florian

Since the fight between myself and Joe Lauzon was announced in January, there was a lot of hype surrounding the fight. I had the honor of fighting a great fighter in a UFC Fight Night Main Event, which featured a star studded card that was shown live on Spike TV. All the fights entertained the sold out crowd in Broomfield, Colorado. Accordingly, as a fighter and fan, I would like to thank Spike, Joe Silva, Dana White, the Fertittas and everyone at ZUFFA for organizing a stacked card that delivered excitement and surprises.

    Ultimate Fight Night 11 Review

Fighting as the Main Event in another live Spike TV UFC Fight Night against a phenomenal opponent was an honor.

I can't say enough about how much I respect Din Thomas and his team. Din is a perfect example of what a MMA fighter should be: He is highly skilled in all areas, fit, dangerous, entertaining, and all class off the mat. I wish him the quickest of recoveries. Hopefully, Din will be able to come up to Boston, so we can train together, because I can learn much from him

    Afghanistan Trip Update

CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, QATAR - I arrived here safe and endured the long trip. Thankfully, I slept pretty well on the flight here. We waited at the airport and our ride came. He drove us to the base (Camp As Sayliyah) in Qatar where we went through several checkpoints. We ate dinner and pretty much headed to bed.

    Going to Visit the Troops

    Mon, 2007-07-16 10:28 — Kenny Florian

Over the next two weeks, I will be overseas visiting the men and women of the U.S. Military. I will be in countries like Afghanistan and Quatar to meet the brave soldiers, who put their lives on the line for us every day. If I can help these people even just a little bit, this trip will be a success for me.

Last year, I visited a couple military bases in the United States and it was a great experience. So now I am honored to have the opportunity to do a more intensive tour this summer. UFC fighters Heath Herring and Jorge Riveria will also be on the tour.

    Robinson Fight Review

    Wed, 2007-07-11 10:05 — Kenny Florian

My fight on July 7th marked my 7th official UFC fight. After the Mishima fight in April, I was eager to be tested again by a strong and talented fighter, who could push me on the ground. Thus, getting a win over Alvin Robinson on Saturday night by utilizing my wresting and jiu-jitsu skills was very rewarding.

After my fight with Dokonjonosuke Mishima on Thursday, April 5th, the celebration was brief. My mindset was on getting back into the Octagon as soon as possible.

On the plane home, my strength and conditioning coach, Kevin Kearns, was busy working on my conditioning program while my brother Keith and Mark DellaGrotte, my MMA coaches drew up plans of their own. The following Monday, I resumed my training and have not stopped.

    My Next Fight

I am excited to announce that I just signed the contract to fight on July 7th at UFC 73: Stacked against a very tough UFC newcomer, Alvin Robinson.

Alvin has a professional record of 9 wins with 1 loss. He is a very good wrestler and BJJ submission specialist. He is young and aggressive and he will no doubt be looking to make a lot of noise in his debut. This fight will be another fast paced battle from start to finish.

    Post Mishima Fight Review

It feels good to be back home in Boston after my victory against Dokonjonosuke Mishima. I am also thankful that I didn’t suffer any injuries and can resume training after a few days off.

Although many fans are unfamiliar with Mishima, I knew I had a tough fight on my hands. He is a world class fighter and a true warrior. There was one word I had in my head while training for this fight and that was “punishment.”

Last night, I arrived in Las Vegas with my coaching team. I am excited to be that much closer to my fight.

As you guys know, I will be fighting on Ultimate Fight Night 9, which will be held at the Palms Resort and Casino this coming Thursday, April 5th. The fight will be shown live on Spike TV starting at 8pm (ET). I am fighting against Japanese PRIDE and Shooto veteran, Dokonjonosuke Mishima..

I learned greatly from my Lightweight Championship battle against Sean Sherk. Since then I have added some amazing coaches and made many other changes. Now, I am hungrier, wiser and more skilled.
