This is Nathan Mendelsohn writing to you from Carson California getting ready to compete tomorrow at noon in the IBJJf US Nationals 2012! I'm set to compete against Brian Morizi in the first round, a tough opponent I've faced twice before at purple belt and its a rematch I'm really looking forward to! I plan on competing weight and absolute and I'll post the results and videos here as soon as possible!! Didn't have a chance to get the new Technique of the Week up before heading down here to LA but I'll put it up as soon as I'm back in Santa Cruz!

This is Nathan Mendelsohn back with my fourth technique of the week!! This is a technique you can get from the same position as the previous two techniques if your opponent won't let you make the grip the others require!! I've had a lot of competition success with this technique, and I added two examples from the 2007 Us Open as a blue belt!!

This is Nathan Mendelsohn back with the third installment in my weekly "Technique of the Week" series. This is a continuation of last weeks technique, showing you how you can get the choke from the back in a similar fashion but from a different angle. If you can put both these technique into your game then any time you see the patch on the back of your opponent's gi they're gonna be in deep trouble.

This is Nathan Mendelsohn back with the second technique in my weekly "Technique of the Week" series! This is another technique that I have had a lot of success with in competition, especially at purple belt where the majority of my matches ended with this move or something similar. Check the first two matches in this highlight from the 2009 US Open where I use this same move from a slightly different angle to get the finish in both matches. Hope you enjoy!! Osssss

This past Saturday I competed again for the first time since my disappointing experience at the Mundial and I ended up taking gold after a tough fight with a really tough opponent from Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu.

The Mundial this year for me was an extremely disappointing experience. I have never sacrificed so much for a single event in my life, nor have I ever felt so prepared. I truly dedicated myself to my diet and for the first time in my life I felt like I dropped weight the right way and was really lean and strong for my weight class.

As my first week here at the GFTeam Training Camp begins drawing to a close I look back on the intensive training I've been put through and I can't believe how much improvement I have made in such a short time span.
