A brief follow up to the seminar with Luiz Filho that took place last week on Friday, November 2nd. Luiz and I go back a long way. He was my first instructor in Brazil back in 1997. I trained with Luiz until I was a 2-stripe blue belt.
Next week on Wednesday, October 17th, I will be teaching a seminar at Midwest Martial Arts. Seminar will be for 2 hours, from 6-8pm. I will cover a few different series: escaping a back attack, attacking from side control, and some good stuff from the closed guard.
For more information, contact me or Midwest Martial Arts.

Closed guard is one of my favorite places to attack from. Of course, I would rather be on top in a fight, but when practicing or playing sport jiu jitsu, I really enjoy the closed guard. There are a lot of attacks that you can do. Some are very simple and can be used playing gi or no gi and some are more gi reliant or more sport jiu jitsu.
Once again, Carlson Gracie Jr came to our school for a 2 hour seminar. We worked on a lot of different positions, but all followed the Carlson Gracie Team "no nonsense" style of Jiu Jitsu. In attendance was 25+ students from all over Indianapolis.

Last week we had Carlson Gracie Team Black Belt Ricardo "Rey" Diogo out for a 2 hour seminar. Like always Rey delivered. He covered a lot of technique starting in the stand up and finishing with some half guard defenses.
Once thing when you train with Rey, you always get a simplistic approach to everything and solid technique with an emphasis to the details of the positions and the strategy behind applying them.
