Hey guys!!

This is Nathan Mendelsohn back with the 17th Technique of the Week! This is a defense for the single leg that I have used many times in competition and that works very well for me but I caution you to be careful when using it on your training partners/fellow competitors because if they're not ready they can go face first into the mat pretty hard!! Drug Testing at the Pan Ams: How will it work?

While drug testing has not been done in most BJJ tournaments, it looks like the IBJJF is trying to level the playing field for their first big tournament of the year. That is because at the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships, planned to be held from March 20-24, the IBJJF is going to have an anti-doping testing program implemented. The testing is going to be done by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

LOS ANGELES, California — The 10th annual OTM Awards will be announced each day this week, starting on Monday, January 14th and ending on Friday, January 18th. We at OTM are very proud to say that we started these awards a decade ago and have watched some of these athletes develop into household names in the sports of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Submission Grappling (No-Gi), and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). To celebrate the growth of these sports, we added more categories last year and we will once again be awarding people in different 16 categories in all 3 sports.

This is a variation of the torreando pass that has worked really well for me in competition for a long time, its one of my favorite set ups to pass tough guard players, especially those that like to play a lot of De la Riva guard.
