     Hey guys!

This last weekend Tanner Rice and I faced off once again at the 6th American Cup in San Jose and it was another exciting match! We were in a bracket of three, the other competitor being close friend of mine and training partner Marcus Antelante.

Last wednesday I arrived in San Jose for some hard competition training with Caio Terra and was surprised when I walked in the door to see Tanner Rice, the man who had been my opponent in an exciting match at the All Star #2 tournament only three days earlier, on the mat ready to train! immediately a smile spread across my face and we shook hands. I think many on the mat were wondering if it would be an awkward situation for us but for me it wasn't at all.

Tanner Rice Receives His Black Belt!

    Fri, 2012-10-12 23:00 — Rubens Charles ...

Earning a black belt in any martial art is certainly a milestone worthy of being proud about. It means the individual has given everything they’ve had for several years to develop their skills and mentality. It doesn’t just mean that a person can fight, it symbolizes a positive growth and advancement for that person. It represents the struggle and the courage it takes to keep the fire within you burning strong. The martial art equivalent of a “college degree,” earning a black belt is an incredible achievement for the student.

     Hey everybody!

The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships 2012 was an exciting event for everyone involved but for me it was an emotional roller coaster that ended up leaving me disappointed and full of motivation.
