Over the weekend, as the WEC and Sengoku hosted a pair of elite MMA events, former Sengoku star Chan Sung "The Korean Zombie" Jung finalized a deal that will bring him to North America to compete in the WEC. The signing of the South Korean fighter was confirmed to Jordan Breen of Sherdog by Jun Choi, who is the lead agent for Korean Top Team, which is Jung's camp and South Korea's biggest MMA team.

On Saturday, December 19, 2009, the WEC returns to Sin City with WEC 45 - Cerrone vs. Ratcliff. The event, which is the last scheduled Zuffa produced MMA event of the year, will take place at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will also mark the third Zuffa produced MMA event to take place at this venue in the last 5 weeks, as WEC 44 and the UFC's TUF 10 Finale also took place in this building during that span. The main card of WEC 45 will air live on Versus in the United States at 6 p.m. PST / 9 p.m. EST.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, the WEC returns to Las Vegas with WEC 44 - Brown vs. Aldo. The event will serve as the lead act of a Zuffa double-header in Sin City this week, as UFC 106 will also be in town three nights later. WEC 44 will take place at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event of the card will be a highly-anticipated featherweight title fight between current champion Mike Thomas Brown and the #1 contender Jose Aldo.
