Game Plan

    Fri, 2010-10-15 08:33 — da-bres

    Hey Folks,
My name is Joey, I am new to the forum.
I would like to hear about fellow Jiu Jitsu players 'general' game plan for tournaments.

    • Do you have a particular game that you force on your opponent?
    • If so what is it?
    • How did you discover or create your game plan?

I think its an interesting topic as there is a multitude of styles that fit different BJJ players for whatever reason.
    I will start it off:
Personally in Gi competitions I pull guard and work a lot of x-guard and de la riva, the aim being to sweep or take the back. From there I work for chokes.
For No-Gi, depending on the build of my opponent, I will either pull a butterfly/x-guard or work for the single/ double.
I suppose mine came from trial and error, but I am more comfortable with my open guard then my takedowns as they are shockingly poor.
    Please reply:)

I like to play guard because

I like to play guard because I am very confident with it and being that I am old now, it is easier for me to to work out.
