    Mon, 2006-02-06 10:48 — Gumby

I'm planning on using this particular forum to give out some of my "scouting reports" on grapplers and fighters. I've probably seen as many jiujitsu matches as anyone over the last 10 years, and in particular have pretty large case files on most of the major American athletes. I'm not as good at picking MMA (I think I got like 6 matches right this UFC), but I'm pretty dead on for jiujitsu and grappling superfights.

We'll see if this concept takes off, if you have any questions or suggestions let me know.

Definitely looking forward to this part of the forum ...

Are you open to reviewing or giving your take on past fights, also? I know this tends to invite a lot of historical revisionism. But there are a lot of fights that some of us have heard about for years, but have only gotten a chance to see just recently (Newton v. Hughes I, in my case). Even in defeat, I thought Newton's jiu jitsu was unbelievable in that fight (I'd never really seen much of Newton, at all). How many times did he sweep Hughes?

It also might be an interesting fight to re-visit given the upcoming Royce Gracie/Matt Hughes match ...

Either way, I'll be reading. Thanks for the insights.

I always enjoy reading previews to events. Whether they be jiu-jitsu or mma, I like to know more about each fighters fighting careers. Especially in grappling where the names aren't as well known as compared to the UFC or Pride where we know almost everybody. So thank you in advance.

    hello,

gumby? will you be following up on this? seems like a good idea. have not understood a lot of the tournament stuff (jiujitsu, judo, submission) and something like this would be helpful. have seen a lot of mma predictions, but not so much with the grappling.

    thanks
