On April 29th 2006 Shidokan Germany hosts the 7th edition of the prestigious "Ultimate Grappling Challenge", the annual Open European Championships in Submission Wrestling and MMA in the Jahnhalle in 72116 Mössingen (Germany). After the huge success of UGC VI with more than 150 competitors from 15 different countries, headlined by a Superfight between ADCC Champion and PRIDE veteran Dean Lister (USA) vs. eight time UGC Champion and Luta Livre Blackbelt Andreas Schmidt (Germany), the promoters decided to split the event. On UGC VII the fights for the newly created "Newcomer" and the established "Beginners" divisions will be held, giving the new talents in Submission Wrestling a stage to showcase their skills on an international level.
