Triangle escape
Mon, 2006-10-02 17:20 — KibunInc
What is your favorite triangle escape? I like to pull down on my opponents knee and stack (keeping my feet back not to let him grab them) and turn to the side to escape into a side control position.

Triangle Escape
Check out the triangle escape on this blog http://jiujitsurevealed.blogspot.com/ its one of the best triangle escape techniques i have ever seen. You place your leg on the guy's face and just lean back and it will cause his legs to open up so you can pry your head out.
I like to check the oil. Once my finger is lodged up their ass, they always let go!
oh that wasn't romo! welcome to the forum u NFG!
want me to check your oil too? I'll do it til you love me...prison style!
sorry to stop the so called fun, but thats enough oil checking for one day.LOL
hello,
hmmm. not sure how to call many of the escapes. ricardomiller (franjinha) once showed an escape that basically involved running the attacker over. the defender drives foreward, rolling the attacker over releasing some pressure, allowing the head to be freed and either take the back or pass guard (depending on how the attacker reacts to this escape).
does anyone know what this one is called? it seems to work fairly well. ricardomiller did not name it.
thanks
I think that one of the best ones is when you grab the knee of the leg that is behind your head with both hands, pull it down to release some pressure, and turn hard to that side putting your elbows on the mat. Gordo used this in 2003 at the pan ams to escape a 6 minute triangle that Rener had on him.
obviously first line of defence is to see it coming and if your big like me you have a lil extra time which makes it easy to defend in the first place.
i like this one :grab own gi with arm in triangle ,take opposite arm grab there lapel near neck with your free arm push and walk toward free arm
you can do it nogi too but not as efective because you dont have lapel
three things
1heres the defence cshudson was talking bout with kneebar [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7ZesgnYsos&NR=1[/ame]
2 heres the no gi version of the defence i mentioned but you might get the idea
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL8gAzTfk4w[/ame]
3 also lovato or gazzy or gumby or tulio or joe hurst or anyone else excessively knowledgeable what do you think of the triangle defence i mentioned??
hello,
hahahahahahahaha!! leave it to basrutten to defend a triangle with a head kick! accidental, but still a bit funny! appreciate the clips. at least one of those looks (functionally at least) very very similiar to the one ricardomiller showed us. also like the ones involving a knee in the ribs or on the head (fairly heavy so this works fairly well).
kibuninc also has a DANDY defense to triangles. during sparring it worked. actually it worked a couple times with different opponents. maybe in april we will see kibuninc do it in romania (if by some miracle his opponent attacks kibuninc with a traingle)!
thanks
My triangle defense is more along the lines of how to prevent a triangle being applied to you. I am glad that it worked for you. Once a person knows the move it is very easy to use.
hello,
no doubt a few guys are going to have a triangle of steel and will be unescapable, but it seems to work pretty well. appreciate it kibuninc!
thanks
I've always found the best triangle defense to be tapping. Helps me escape every time.
the one that i have had the most luck with is stacking that opponent and then getting a can opener as i call it, where you thai clinch that back of the head and then pull up while stacking, havent done it yet but from this i have seen people go to a kneebar, i'm wanting to try that i love the leg, ankle, and knee lock there my favorite.
I use Ricksons. two arms in or tow arms out! works everytime!:D
