ADCC Trials 87K Division: Best Ever?

    Fri, 2006-10-06 10:46 — Gumby

In my estimation this is one of the best divisions I've ever seen. Every ADCC division is awesome, but this one has me more excited that I've been in a long time. Literally ever name that's in here so far is capable of winning this division. It's going to take skill, heart and luck to make it through here.

    Men's Cruiserweight - 77-87 kg:
Rafael Lovato, Jr. (Saulo Ribeiro/2006 GQ U.S. Trials Champ)
Chris Moriarty (Team Alliance/2006 GQ U.S. Trials Finalist)
Justin Garcia (Jungle Gym/Undefeated in MMA/2005 U.S. Trials Finalist)
Rick Macauley (2005 GQ U.S. Trials Champion, 2005 ADCC Competitor)
    Luke Stewart (Ralph Gracie)
Jon Fitch (American Kickboxing Academy-UFC Veteran)
    Team Renzo Gracie Representative

    So much potential in here:

Arguably the top American BJJ competitor in Rafael Lovato Jr.

The two top brown belts in the United States in Chris Moriarty and Luke Stewart.

Two ADCC veterans and absolute monsters on the grappling circuit in Justin Garcia and Rick Macauley.

The sleeper of the division, former Captain of the Purdue Wrestling team, current MMA hot streak and as much potential as I've seen in anyone Jon Fitch.

I can't pick a winner here. It's going to depend largely on match ups I think. I would give the slight edge to Lovato and the slight underdog to Fitch, but like i said I think anyone here is capababe of taking the whole thing.
