Aikido???

    Tue, 2006-10-17 18:38 — Gerald Rhoades

What do you guys think about aikido?? ive seen on other BJJ sites that most grapplers dont like it, and that it doesnt work.
But on some aikido sites, theyre are people that do both and they say they compliment each other pretty well. Its seems that the thing is with aikido, you have to do itfor a long period of time to be able to make it work....An hour before my BJJ class theres an aikido class, and im thinking about giving it a go, so just wanted to hear some of your thoughts....

If its free i would check it out but if you have to pay i wouldnt, I went and watched an aikido class in knoxville, tn and it was weird, kinded was a like a cult of all this bowing, they would get down on the floor like the were praying to some high power. It was a picture of a korean guy they were praying to. ????????????????????? up to you though, and im not trying to hate on anyones martial arts

Yeah the wrist locks are neat but that class i sat in at, was different those guys told me that they could never be taken down, they told me ground martial arts were pointless. maybe i just went to a shady school. who knows?

That video was pretty cool. If Steven Segal is a black belt in it then it must be great, I mean I have never seen him lose a match in his movies.

If it is offered for free I would try it out, I am sure that there are some good moves to learn from it.
