What LEO approved ground training do you know of?

    Fri, 2006-11-17 06:35 — Anonymous

    Morning.

I want to hear what everyone is doing for ground defense...please post the name of your program if it meets the qualifications below.

    Qualifications:

    1. Must be a program which you have completed, so that if anyone has a question, you can write about it.

    2. Must be approved by a POST, DPS, or LESB.

This is going to be a little hard for me as I am waiting for my agency to send me to my POST approved instructor class on arrest and control. I did assist with putting together Santa Ana PD arrest and control program. In this we taught the carotid hold, how to pass the guard, arm shoulder lock, escort hold, basic sweeps, how to defeat the turtle for handcuffing. These techniques are post approved per SAPD.

I am currrently working with my agency and we have a POST approved class. I assist with teaching it and I know it is post approved. We show the carotid, how to defeat the guard, defeat the mounted position, sweeps, arm to shoulder, escort holod, wrist locks, knees, elbows, front kick, roundhouse kick, Kimura, taking a persons back.

I am scheduled to meet with the Sheriffs department in a couple of weeks to check out their program. I get to work with agencies right now based mostly on my 28 years of training. The ground game is getting popular and law enforcement is starting to recognize it. POST is very open to various techniques. I hope this answers what you were looking for.
