what did ya think about Rocky Balboa??
Sun, 2007-01-14 06:55 — Gerald Rhoades
i know it came out a while ago over there, but over here it just came out yesterday. lol
I liked it. I watched all those movies growing up, it may not be top notch cinema or anything like that, but ive always liked em.
I guess you could say the movie has a lot of similarity with the 1st one, but oh well. I read that the fight was actually filmed before a real heavyweight match without the crowd knowing it was going to happen, so the crowds reactions and all that is supposed to be real.. i thought that was pretty cool.
Also liked that the punches are real too. i think they put extra padding on the gloves but supposedly the punches were all real.

hello,
sylvesterstallone and dolphlundgren also threw real punches. beat the crap out of each other evidently.
that is a beautiful thing......
thanks.
I have not seen the last one yet.
Dolph Lundgren was a heavy weight Tha-boxing champion out of Europe. He should have beat Sly.
Dolph Lundgren was a heavy weight Tha-boxing champion out of Europe. He should have beat Sly.
... and Kyokushin black belt. There's a video on youtube right now of him bustin 3 slabs of ice.
I thought that Dolph was an ex-kickboxer not Muay-Thai. I could definitely be wrong.
May have been kickboxing. Most of the European fighters mess with a little of both. Post the link of hiim breakin gthe ice.
hello,
being an out of towner.... it goes something like this.
everything full contact in europe is called kickboxing. so yes, dolphlundgren is kickboxer.
actual styles known by dolphlundgren? judo, jujutsu, kyokushin, muaythai.
still, all called kickboxing if you ask a european.
poor eurotrash!!! don't even know what to call thier sports!!! hahahahaha!!!
thanks.
Thanks for the info. Do you know why his career was cut short?
hello,
not clear. who's?
thanks.
Dolph Lundgren
hello,
if you mean his martial arts career? have heard he still trains, and have heard he teaches sometimes.
if you mean his film career? he never considered himself as an actor only. he has his life and the things in it. it is possible he simply.... stopped.
mind you, this is speculation. have not met him or asked him. so don't know.
this thought just occured. many european actors who "quit" the business are actually quite active in european movies. we don't see them here because of trade laws that exist regarding the release of american and european movies in each others markets. this may be the case here.
thanks.
hello,
incidentally, in answer to the original question....
liked the movie. thought it could have been better though. would have liked for the movie to have depicted more than one fight. not enough fights.
other than that, it was solid. not groundbreaking, but solid.
thanks.
hello,
apologies, forgot to include this on the last post. just wondering....
the vr program depicted in the movie, does such a thing exist? if so, can we enter all the fighters and make our own matchups?
that would be quite cool.
thanks.
I was refering to his martial arts career. He was in a motorcycle accident and broke his hip. That is why he went over to acting.
hello,
ah. did not know that. makes sense, if you can't do "a" then go do "b". any idea his age at the time?
thanks.
I liked it. The punches were supposedly real as for as having them land but just without real heat on'em.
I'm a Rocky fan. I enjoyed all of'em. The inspirational under dog stories with a good hearted guy.
damn, did not know that about dolph lundgren...
