Save Bevois' Nuts!
Sun, 2007-04-01 10:16 — Gumby
So Bevois has officially been awarded the title OTM Title of Gumby's slave. As such he is responsible for submitting more article and content to the main site. Bevois is a good writer, and in the hub of the fight world (Las Vegas) so has access to a lot of events and fighter interviews.
If he DOES NOT come up with at least one GOOD article per week, he has agreed to let us punt him in the nuts. The nut punter will be Scotty, but he may authorize special guest Nut Punters of his choosing should he desire (or be unable to punt Bevois' nuts). Surprisingly enough, we've already had a number of volunteers for the job.
Help save Bevois' nuts! He needs story ideas! If there's something you want our roving reporter to cover in the Vegas area, please let us know!
OTM and Bevois' nuts thank you very much!

hello,
well here is an idea.... coverage/interviews of ifl teams. they have been interviewed separately, but the teams are rarely covered together as a team. articles covering that teams evolution would be interesting. this could be an ongoing series as different teams pass through that area.
thanks.
hello,
just thought about this idea.... already had the other posted. perhaps an article on the evolution of jiujitsu in america. it seems that one of the major proponents of the "american jiujitsu" idea live out there.
this idea is not thought of as a "who is better" article, but rather a frank, truthful look at how the game has changed in the last twenty or so years. perhaps an examination of the different teaching methods that have evolved in america as well as those developments that continue in brazil and other countries.
also, a really comprehensive look at different skillsets, thier evolution, thier proper uses, thier instructional quirks (anything unusual about how they must be taught) would be a real treat. an example is the guard as it is practiced today, versus the guard of the 70's or 80's.
this/these article(s) could also pay some attention to how techniques are adapted from "grappling for tournaments" to "grappling for mma" and why.
lastly, with regard to the development of specific techniques, a look at the key individuals who really brought those techniques to the level they are at now would also be of interest. for example, an individual might have thought of a technique, or done it accidentally, but there may be several others who incorporated the ideas in different ways.
again, this type of writting might easily become a series unto itself, but could be written for the advanced practitioner as well as the beginner.
thanks.
hello,
lastly, a look at the oddsmakers and the numbers they give each week on the punting of bevois' nuts!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
ok, a joke admittedly.
however, perhaps an article (or several) that cover the gaming aspect of the fight business. while there are many who gamble on such things (sports), not many people seem to understand how the gambling/oddsmaking impact the sport. this might appeal to the more cerebral fan type.
properly written, this type of article or report might give rise to "fantasy fight teams" and further interest in the globalization of the sport (this model would be ideal for ifl type scenarios, but would work in any league).
also, if such articles or reports were timely and accurate, fighters themselves might begin to take heed. in coverage of other (team oriented) sports, coverage often consists of analysis of team tactics as well as individual performance. fans might begin to more accurately assess thier favorite fighters performances if such coverage was given in analytical form (as opposed to strictly commentators remarks). while winning is the most obvious method of marking imporvement in a figher, many might appreciate being able to evaluate improvements in a fighters game that don't necessarily bring about a win (well, he lost, but his "xyz" and "abc" are a lot better this time around).
then, when bevois gets punted in the nuts, the fans can evaluate the kick technique and bevois reaction critically!!! who knows? at some point a victorious fighter may give a remark like "well, i wasn't gonna quit this time... after i saw that kick bevois took, and didn't even fall.... i knew i could keep going!!!!"
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
thanks
