Congrats to Jeff Glover on his Superfight win at the Maui Jiu-Jitsu Open!

    Mon, 2007-07-30 01:39 — Bevois

On Saturday July 28th at the War Memorial Gymnasium in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii -- Jeff Glover defeated Aaron Moeller via triangle choke, 1 minute into their Superfight at the 4th Annual Maui Jiu-Jitsu Open Tournament. For those not familiar with Moeller, he is a very accomplished black-belt instructor at the Longman Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy on Kauai, Hawaii. Moeller received his black-belt after training for 13 years under Bruno Ewald, who is a black-belt under Royler Gracie. Ewald is also the fighter featured on the cover of "The Gracie Way".

The Maui Jiu-Jitsu Open was hosted by Luis Heredia who is a black-belt under Rickson Gracie. The tournament ran smoothly on Saturday with no delays, lots of action, and showcased a lot of up-and-coming talent. Two other notable competitors were Jake Scoval and Jake Mapes. Jake Scoval who trains under Aaron Moeller and Bruno Ewald at the Longman Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy won both the purple-belt lightweight division and the purple-belt absolute division. Jake Mapes who trains under Luis Heredia at Maui Jiu-Jitsu won the brown-belt heavyweight division and also won the "most outstanding brown-belt" award. Congrats to everyone who competed and to Luis Heredia for promoting another stellar jiu-jitsu tournament!
