The 2007 IFL Playoffs start tonight!
Thu, 2007-08-02 13:45 — Bevois
East Rutherford, New Jersey (August 2, 2007) -- The 2007 International Fight League's semi-finals start tonoght, featuring the four teams with the best team records during the regular season. If there were any ties in total team wins during the regular season, the number of wins in individual match-ups were used to break the ties and determine the four semi-final teams. Unfortunately, for the Los Angeles Anacondas, two of their stars and team leaders Chris Horodecki (Lightweight) and Jay Hieron (Welterweight) were both injured and will miss tonight's action.
All of tonight's fighters successfully made weight yesterday for the IFL semi-finals in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Los Angeles Anacondas brought their full team for the competition, despite being forced to rely on two alternates in the lightweight and welterweight division and the Quad City Silverbacks had to use Gerald Harris of the Portland Wolfpack as a substitute for an injured fighter with Harris' coach Matt Lindland along for support.
In addition to the Anacondas vs. Silverbacks and Sabres vs. Pitbulls, four preliminary bouts are also on the card with the first fight getting underway soon after the doors open at 6:15 p.m. EST. The semi-finals bouts are scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. EST.
