It featured three Brazilains in Gesias "JZ" Calvancanti, Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro, and Andre "Dida" Amade, as well as local hero Caol Uno. The K-1 Hero's fight card also featured superfights, which included a rematch between PRIDE rivals Sergei Kharitonov and Alistair Overeem, another Judo vs. BJJ battle in Ikuhisa Minowa vs. Kevin Casey, a fight featuring the immortal Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Katsuyori Shibata, and the much anticipated bout between Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto and Bibiano Fernandes.
