Grappling Dummies
Tue, 2007-10-30 20:38 — KibunInc
Ok I am not talking about the guys we sometimes train with, I am talking about the dummies you can buy to practice techniques on. I just picked one up from the OTM shop in order to practice while watching TV and I love it. I spent an hour practicing traingles, arm bars, etc. Yes they are limited in some areas but for drilling techniques in down time I love it. Of course it will not replace training at the gym but I think it can be a great tool if used right.
Also I bought the real good dummy with the arms and legs. If anyone else has one let me know what you think of it and what type of drills you use it for.

I want one......:(
Underdog -
Before you buy a grappling dummy, take a look at the Submission Master grappling dummy - there's a demo of it on youtube @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0unUBxf8fE
I've got one. I used to like the Bubba, but the Submission Master holds its legs up so you can work inside it's guard and train passing guard. It also postures on it's knees for working your guard, start position, turtle, etc.
It's arms also stay up and pop right back into postion after doing arm locks. Check it out.
I got my grapple dummy from OTM but it was that style of grapple dummy. I love the way it works. Thanks for the video it gave me some ideas for trianing that I had not thought of yet.
I think the submission master is a good device, but it's expensive. If you have your own school (which you don't) you may want one because of the quality, but I can't see spending $400 when there are easy online instructions on how to make pretty much the same thing for like 20 bucks, and it'll take like an hour. Look it up.
Hey I enjoy my grapple dummy. I do not have my own school which makes me happy as no one else uses the dummy. The $400 was worth the cost but then again I have a good paying job so the $400 was not that big of a deal for me.
hey..where did u get your dummy??
The place that I get 90% of my equipment from "OTM." The only place to to buy quality equipment from.
