Baby Jay and Joe Daddy are lean, mean, and ready for war!

    Fri, 2008-01-04 20:53 — Bevois

This BJ Penn video was taken 1 month out from his fight against Joe Stevenson. He's walking around just 7 pounds over his fight weight (155 pounds). He's in great shape and it should also be said that Joe is looking shredded right now too from his training up at Big Bear. This has all the makings for the greatest championship fight in MMA history!

you missed the point of the video. adding much needed protein and carbs to maintain lean muscle mass is essential while training for a fight. fighters can easily lose 10 lbs. of water weight (and put it back on after the weigh-ins) without effecting their performace. that is why BJ was concerned at being too light too soon. the key while training is to maintain your diet, strength, and conditioning up to the week of the fight and then sweat out the reamaining weight before the weigh-ins. after he and Joe rehydrate after the weigh-ins, they'll be fighting at around 165 each. by the way, Hillbilly is right. lightweight is 146-155 lbs. and featherweight is 136-145 lbs.

    hello,

hey kibuninc. just thought about it... what is the bottom of that wieght class? sounded like he was a bit concerned about losing wieght too quickly. 155 is the top? so, bottom must be roughly 140?

    thanks
