Dana White talking shit!!!

    Mon, 2008-02-04 17:59 — Hillbilly

White on Couture and Fedor Emelianenko:
Randy Couture, right now is the best fighter in the world. Fedor is a farce. He [just fought] "Long Duck Dong"...we'll just call him that. It's a joke. This guy hasn't beat anybody since 2005 and you know who was the last guy he beat in 2005? Mirko Cro Cop who just lost to two guy's that nobody's...you know.

    Read it here...

It's all business, nothing personal. The public opinion, especially the uneducated one is easily influenced and Dana does what he has to do for his interests.

well said Quest.. and I do agree.

Kibun, even with the ridiculously high volume of people Dana meets, I can guarantee that he does remember you. Dana is one of the most down to earth guys you've ever met. To judge him by talking to him ONCE does not serve him justice and it's unfair to be so quick to judge. Sometimes when I talk to Scotty, one of my best friends, I feel like he has other things to deal with and doesn't have enough brain space or energy to listen to me telling him all about how my day went, LOL. My point is, that I know he loves me regardless of wether or not he has the time or brain power by the end of one of his long days to listen to me talking about MY day. Some people just have so many activities and reciprocation of info that they can even go numb after a while!

Dana has surpassed the meaning of success, fame, and power. The ONE thing I love about him is that he NEVER forgets his roots. There's a lot about Dana you don't know and I'm not going to be the one to tell you, rather the one to delicately whisper in your ear "don't judge so quick" and hope that one day you get to see more of who he is on the inside, and not who is on "The Ultimate Fighter" and the UFC, etc.

Dana does have to protect his own interest, meanwhile crossing paths with so many people and trying to please each and every single person with a smile, a hand shake, and some exchange of little talk.. it becomes exhausting, he still does it and it seems he never burns out, but he does it for the people because he genuinely cares!! That in itself is a hard job. I for one can imagine how hard it would be for me to smile at everyone I see when i'm in a pissy mood!

probably doesn't get enough time to train consistently these days with all the shows he has going on, but he definitely does train and used to train more often. Dana is more a boxer than anything else.. and he's fukn good!

why would Dana's comments about Fedor surprise anyone? Dana is a smart businessman and since he couldn't sign Fedor, bashing him (and by extension, M-1 Global) is his next best option. this is very typical of any promoter, not just in MMA. it happens in boxing, wrestling, football, baseball, and even in college sports with the SEC vs. Big 12 vs. Big East vs. ACC vs. Big 10 vs. Pac 10 debate.

if Dana really thought Fedor was a farce, he wouldn't have risked pissing off Randy the way he did by offering Fedor more money. one of the main reasons Randy resigned is because he was upset Dana offered Fedor a bigger contract. you don't offer that kind of money to another fighter and piss off your heavyweight champion if you don't believe Fedor is good. the same goes for CroCop. CroCop was signed to a record-setting deal before the Pride buyout. Dana absolutely believes Fedor is an amazing fighter, but Fedor signed with a rival organization, so he's not gonna sit around telling people that.

Dana honestly needs to do the behind the scenes business dealings and otherwise SHUT THE F*CK UP. Seriously. How in the world can you basically publicly trash the world's best freakin heavyweight, that I might add he screwed up negotiations with I might add, yet still HOPE to do business with him? Honestly, I would love if Fedor came to the UFC and just went through the entire roster, got the UFC belt and told Dana to f*ck off and drop the belt there and walk out.

Seriously, while I am glad that Dana helped to get the UFC and the sport itself to where it is today, he really needs to shut up before he really pisses fighters off. It's like when he talked crap on GSP being mentally weak since he was seeing a Sports Psychologist, and now he is on his nuts since he is steamrolling people again. Definitely a BIG bandwagon jumper.

I have to disagree with your view Mr. GAZZY on Dana White. That view of things is exactly what’s wrong with our culture and society, which is to make money “by any mean necessary”. I don’t know how anyone can sit around and applaud Mr. White on his dishonest and tasteless tactics to make money. The way he markets my sport is just tasteless.
If anything the “actual” fighters in MMA have the most clear and honest views of Dana White such as the greatest fighter our sport has ever seen Mr. Fedor Emelianenko:

Source: www.GracieMag.com“Often I’ve read the comments of Mr. White published on the internet and referring to me. In my opinion, saying such things are signs he is neither a gentleman nor even an adult man! If he wishes candidly to prove himself right, then let me face Randy (Couture) or the current UFC champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Minotauro). From now on, I don’t want to hear any more statements about me and I will not tolerate this.
“My last fight in Japan proved I’m still ready to face anyone, with any height, skill or experience advantage. I’ve faced and hope to face the best athletes, The fight against Randy is my number one goal at the moment. He is a great fighter and is in an unfortunate situation being held back by the UFC’s unilateral decision that is preventing the fight from taking place.
“The whole world is anxious to see me face their fighters. Folks don’t want to hear his press conferences. I have a contract with M-1 Global and the organization is ready to put on these fights whether under its own brand or in shared events.”

LOL at "Mr. GAZZY". you are either a troll or not very smart.

FYI, Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Tim Sylvia, Rich Franklin, and a bunch of other "actual fighters" are very close personal friends of Dana!

how exactly is building the best MMA organization in the world considered "tasteless"?

Mr. White's marketing target is very narrow at the moment. The targeted audience is very one dimensional. Mr. White’s personal views and beliefs have interfered with the overall growth of the company and sport here in America. To truly become a billion dollar sport like football it has to target itself to the family demographic. And That is far from what Mr. White’s “Just bleed” UFC product is marketed to. That’s another reason why major sponsors like Nike, and Disney would never associate themselves with the current UFC product. Just imagine how big the sport would be if the UFC would have the whole family demographic like other major sports have? The Japanese have the right formula and have successfully marketed towards the family audience with HEROS, and the now defunct PRIDE FC. If you ever been to a HEROS and PRIDE event you would swear you were at some pop concert.

No one doubts Dana Whites ability to build a business. The problem with Dana is that he believes his own bullshit. He talks as if he is the only expert on the fight game. He reminds me of Don King. Maybe we should call him Dana King from now on.

reality is, he know's more about this fight game than anyone else out there. Dana was around this business when you were in highshcool and when others were in diapers.

but I love to sit back and watch people go nuts over the things he says and does!

I wasn't implying you in particular were going nuts... I should say, when people so passionately share what's on their mind about him, what he says, and the decisions etc..

For years Dana has had haters, lovers too of course. He loves the haters just as much as he loves the lovers, lol, maybe more because he says it shows their passionate for the sport. (wish i felt the same about my haters LOL, i guess i do realize- love me or hate me, they still talking about me)

so when people say for example, he needs to STFU.. He's laughing and loving it. I guess when u have that much money and power, you have the space to realize its the lovers and the haters that have equally brought together the interest/success of the sport that Dana also has been bringing together for so long. it's like two peas in a pod arguing.. :)

I agree, Dana has promoted some of the greatest fights in history.

Dana is the man, but I doubt he was around the business when Kibun was in high school. Kibun went to high school with Danny Zuko and the T-Birds.

In fact, here's a pic of Kibun at his high school prom!

I wish I could dance that good. Yes I am a bit old for Dana to be in the fight game when I was in high school. By the way I was caught at 16 trying to turn pro in kickboxing by an old organization called PKA (They are no longer around). I never made it big in the sport and I am not claiming to be a world champion fighter but I have put almost 30 years of my life into the fighting sports both as competitor and trainer.

I do not deny what Dana White has done for the sport or the fact that he has made more money then me. I think he has done some great things for the sport but on the other side he has been slow to pay fighters what they are worth considering how much money the UFC makes (MMA has surpassed boxing in PPV). I have talked to Dana White only on 2 occasions. I left the conversation with the feeling that he realy did not care or even would remember that he just talked to me. OK so everyone does not have to remember everyone they talk to or have a heart to heart conversation with them; I understand that Dana White talks to thousand of people but I have talked with many fighters who even though we only had a 5 minute conversation you could tell they were sincere with what they said. I am sure non of them remember me just the same.

Dana White says things to stir the pot with people so it is only normal that some people will not like him. Over all I am extrememly happy with the UFC fights and I look for the sport to grow. I believe Dana will have to change some of his ways or the UFC will decline.

By the way I will still call him Dana King.
