MILLENNIA MMA Official Grand Opening on May 10th

    Fri, 2008-05-02 07:21 — TheComish

Well it’s been almost 5 months that we've been busting our ass off to build the Millennia gym, and now I got a date for the huge grand opening! Saturday May 10th is gonna be the official grand opening for the new Millennia MMA facility, and I'm expecting everyone to show! You all have a week or so to make, change and adjust your schedule so you can be there! We will have a jumper for the kids, BBQ for everyone, drinks, sign-up specials, music, and tons of Pro Fighters from the UFC, WEC, and PRIDE! It would mean a lot to me, and the entire team if everyone could come and support this! Until then; train hard, be safe and enjoy the ride!

I will def be by the new place in the next month. My BJJ instructor Mike Banales trained at the torrence gracie academy many years ago, and then went and trained in MMA with Romie, Betiss, and Javier years ago. I can't wait to meet those guys.

Cool.. let me know when you are gonna come down.

WOW I was talking to Romie and Betiss tonight, and they are definitely thinking REALLY BIG!!!

Romie is going to be making a bunch of calls tomorrow, so I'll have a better idea about who's gonna be there.

I just got my new camera, so I'm still workin' with it, but here was the highlight of the day. I tried to rangle up as many of the MILLENNIA guys as I could. I know for sure I missed 4 or 5 of the guys there, but here's the good group shot that I got on Saturday. I'll probably make a blog n' get the other pix up as soon as I can.

WOW... some things change... and other things stay the same. I feel lucky that Javi, John, Romie, and all the guys at MILLENNIA let me come in and take pictures for them.

Check out Javi, John, and Romie...

Yeah... Javi is back with Romie and Betiss full time. He's teaching the No-Gi and Gi classes at night, as well as helping out the MMA fighters ground game.

Javier "Showtime" Vazquez - Considered the best submission wrestler in teh 65KG and under weight class in the USA, Original founder of the MILLENNIA Team, 14 years experience in BJJ, Black Belt under Rodrigo Medieros (Carlson Gracie), Pan American Submission Wrestling Champion (Most technical fighter), 4X US Open Champion, 3X State Jiu-Jitsu Champion, 2X KOTC Lightweight Champion, Gracie Worlds Champion, ADCC North American Trials Champion

I definitely attribute a good portion of my success to Romie, Javier and Betiss. This gym is almost reason enough for me to move back out to California. If you are in the area and looking for a place to train look no further. These guys were doing the damn thing way before it was cool. Made props fellas and I will definitely be stopping by soon.

For what it is worth I rolled with Romie years ago at Todd Medinas gym and Romie is a stud on the ground. Years ago he beat Joe Stevenson (Who is also a great fighter and person), at a KOTC event. I would like to go by and I will see if I can get off of work early. I know Romie will probably not remember me as it has been about 7 years since I rolled with him but if I did not train at Todds then I would be over a Mellenia. Good luck guys.
