Saulo and Xande Ribeiro promoted Diego to purple belt tonight. Now he will have the same rank in jiu-jitsu as his next opponent Luigi Fioravanti for their fight at the TUF 7 Finale on the 21st. Diego has been working diligently with the gi ever since joining Saulo and Xande's University of Jiu-Jitsu in San Diego, CA. Diego has been hanging with to black belts for years in no-gi competition, which includes a win over Pablo Popovitch in 2004 as well as lasting over 10 minutes with Marcelo Garcia at the 2005 ADCC. Congrats to Diego, as he trains just as hard as anyone in the sport!
