UFC 86 - Jackson vs. Griffin (July 5, 2008)
Fri, 2008-07-04 02:23 — Bevois

The UFC returns to Sin City at UFC 86 - Jackson vs. Griffin on July 5, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Current UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will face the original The Ultimate Fighter champion Forrest Griffin in a highly-anticipated title fight that has been heavily publicized on national television, as they were the two coaches on the past season on The Ultimate Fighter 7 - Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest, which just concluded two weeks ago. Jackson and Griffin are widely regarded as the two funniest personalities in the sport, but as we saw throughout TUF 7 these two are all business when it comes to competition, which is giving many people the distinct feeling that this fight will be an instant classic. The fight card will also feature a fight between TUF 1 standout Josh Koscheck and TUF 4 finalist Chris Lytle in a bout taking place in the ultra deep welterweight division. TUF 2 champion Joe Stevenson will look to reestablish himself as a dominant force against American Top Team fighter Gleison Tibau in a lightweight bout. The always entertaining Tyson Griffin of Xtreme Couture battles American Top Team black belt Marcus Aurelio in another top flight lightweight bout. The main card concludes with a middleweight bout that has title shot implications, as TUF 4 finalist Patrick Cote takes on Renzo Gracie jiu-jitsu ace Ricardo Almeida. The fight card stands at 9 bouts with 5 taking place in the stacked lightweight division.
