I use to think it wasn't a legit choke but we have a Brown Belt Dom Cosenza who hits it from everywhere. He has probably put more people to sleep including me than any other choke I have seen. When he does the choke it is definitely a legit choke and uses a lot of technique. He also hits it from bottom a lot which is where it usually surprises people. At balance we call in the Dominator. I usually go off the base of if you close your hand and grab there windpipe its not legit and illegal but if you keep your hand open and press forward its legit. Dom also reachs around with his other hand to force your head into and grabs his forearm with that hand to keep it tight. Kind of hard to explain
